Once finding out there was no treatment or cure, his father, Bruce, asked him what his dream was. Andrew told him it was to buy the car he’d always dreamed of—a Nissan GT-R. The very next day, Andrew and Bruce went to buy it.After having the car for a few months, Andrew wanted to start a nonprofit organization that would be devoted to finding the cure for HLRCC and other forms of rare kidney cancer, with the GT-R as the centerpiece of the organization.Andrew sadly succumbed to the cancer and passed peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, on Easter Sunday 2019. Bruce stepped in as President and CEO of Driven to Cure to fulfill his son’s mission of fighting for a cure to this deadly disease. Tragically, Bruce lost his own battle with cancer in December of 2022. Andrew and Bruce still live on today through this beautiful Driven to Cure Orange GT-R, a patented shade of orange Andrew developed. The proceeds from all sales of this orange paint goes directly to Driven to Cure.DTC continues to bring the GT-R around the country in its heavy involvement in car shows, with its popularity among car lovers only bolstered by the sad but beautiful story behind it. Andrew’s love for cars, and Bruce’s love for his son, knew no bounds, and making it a part of this year’s SEMA and PRI Washington Rally only seems fitting in a celebration of cars by those whose passion burns as bright asAndrew and Bruce’s did. It’s hard to find another event that brings together car enthusiasts’ passion for their vehicles and the stories that accompany them like the SEMA and PRI Washington Rally, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to share the story of Andrew and Bruce, who would have absolutely loved an event asspecial as this one. Louisiana Governor Signs Bill to Protect Vehicle ChoiceLouisiana Governor Jeff Landry signed House Bill 515 (HB 515) into law, which ensures consumers' choice of vehicle power plants and fuel technologies. This legislation will go into effect on August 1, 2024. The SEMA-supported law officially prohibits a state agency from restricting the sale or use of motor vehicles based on their energy source. HB 515 passed both chambers of the legislature with overwhelming support. The new law makes Louisiana the latest state to embrace vehicle choice. "SEMA appreciates Governor Landry and Louisiana's lawmakers for approving HB 515," said Colby Martin, SEMA's director of state government affairs. "As with any automotive advancements, SEMA has continued to support an 'all of the above' approach to vehicle technology policy, advocating for technology-neutral policy that allows the free market to continue to innovate all technology that significantly reduces vehicle emissions."Learn More! 🔗 https://brnw.ch/21wKDcC
